We didn't see a kiwi :,( |
My happiest memory is going to Soames Island (a place out in the harbor) with my whole family PLUS my Grandparents. For those who don't know Soames Island is basically a sanctuary for species native to New Zealand like tuataras, kiwis, a special type of skink and little blue penguins (there were way more animals which I can't remember the names of.) So we took a speed boat into the harbor with like 30 other people, it only took 15 minutes. So we got there and were told about - bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla. Eventually we got the little cabin we were staying in over night and had lunch. During lunch Marama (my little sister) was being a pain in the ass so I threw a glass of water on her face. Not my proudest moment. So that evening we decided to have a night time walk around the Island my dad, my Nana and I stayed near the back away from all the noise talking quietly. Then I hear this rustling in a bush;
"Dad is that you," I wispered
"No,"
And then, out of no were, pops out my sister! Nah, just kiding, no it was a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE tuatara! We just stared at each other for a few minutes, until it eventually ran back into the bushes. (Haha Marama, YOU didn't see a tuatara like ME.) So thats my memory,
Byeeeeeeeee!
Oh yeah, today's fun fact is........(drum roll please)
The tuatara is the oldest of all living reptiles!!!!!!!
Great post and a great memory
ReplyDeleteMarama has a tough weekend - a glass of water in the face and she didn't see the tuatara. But I seem to recall that the people in the front saw some too.
